Dimensions, material, print, closure and carton packing should be written into the order, with an approved sample or drawing revision for comparison.

Material and document review

Material checks differ by product. Paper bags need the agreed paper weight and handle construction; cups need the specified lining and matched lid; molded inserts need the selected fiber and forming specification. Documents must identify the supplied material or finished item and its intended use.

Sample approval

Evaluate the sample with the actual contents. Fill a container to the intended level, fit the lid, stack the filled packs and simulate the normal carrying method. For inserts, place the real product in the tray and carton. Record dimensions, fit and any agreed functional checks so the approval is reproducible.

Production and packing checks

Agree the inspection stages and sampling plan before production. Check print placement and colour against the approved artwork, then review formed edges, seams, closures, handles or cavities as relevant. Packing checks cover pieces per inner pack, packs per carton, labels and carton condition. Record deviations instead of relying on a general “good quality” judgement.

Before shipment

The dispatch review compares quantities, carton marks and packing documents with the order. Any required third-party inspection or transport test should have a defined scope and acceptance criteria. Keep the inspection record and approved changes with the specification for the next order.

Discuss Your Inspection Requirements

Quality Control for Packaging Orders A useful packaging inspection starts with a measurable specification.
