Knowledge Base

Practical packaging guidance for buyers comparing materials, specifying a product and preparing a wholesale order. Start with the question you need to resolve, then use the relevant guide before requesting samples.

Materials and finished construction

A material name does not describe the whole pack. Linings, coatings, lids, inks and adhesives can change how it performs and how it should be handled after use.

Product fit and sample approval

Use samples with your actual contents and normal packing method. Record the specification and revision you approve so repeat orders have a clear comparison point.

  • Food packs: check usable capacity, closure, matched lids, grease contact and filled-pack handling.
  • Paper bags and cartons: check carrying load, dimensions, folds, artwork and assembly.
  • Protective inserts: check support points, cavity clearance, movement and the complete shipping pack.

Review the quality-control checklist or request samples for your application.

Documents and disposal

Review the finished item and its components against the destination market. A compostability document does not by itself establish suitability for every food-contact or temperature condition.

Prepare a useful packaging brief

Send the product type, dimensions or usable capacity, material requirements, order quantity and delivery country. Add a drawing, artwork, matched lid or sample requirements where relevant.
