ARBONYXPACK · Protective insert design
A molded pulp insert should hold the product at appropriate support points and preserve clearance around sensitive areas. Begin with the product geometry and handling risks before discussing the mold.
Map the product surfaces
Provide a drawing or sample, dimensions, weight and centre of gravity where relevant. Mark surfaces that can carry load and those that must not be touched. Include accessories, fragile corners and the orientation needed inside the carton.
Set the fit and clearances
Describe how the product is inserted and removed. Cavity dimensions, contact areas and the location of the tray in the carton should be assessed together. Allow for the agreed tolerances of both product and packaging instead of approving one unusually tight sample.
Review the packing operation
Use the real product and outer carton in the prototype review. Check alignment, movement and any marks after normal handling. Assess tray nesting and separation if they affect storage or the packing station. Keep photographs of the accepted support arrangement.
Keep tooling tied to the approved design
The production record should identify product, insert and carton references, material and drawing revision. Changes to the product or cavity need a fit review; changes that affect protection may also require repeat transport checks. Agree those requirements before approving tooling.
